Rated R “The Bronx Most Wanted” he is a CEO/Rapper under the label Empire State Recordz, he has had many features on countless mistape and doing it big in the Bronx right now, he take some time out to tell Musikizme about his latest mixtape he has out, and about his growing pains and his label.

MIM: Whats good my dude, before we get into the interview, just give a short introduction to who Rated R is and what is he about.

Rated R: Rated R is about making good music that the world can vibe out to. I’m a hubble dude that’s willing to work with any body that’s taking there craft as serious as I do. I’m the future so they aint got a choice but to feel my grind and understand where I want to go with it.

MIM: While reading your bio, i saw that you went trought alot in your lifetime, would you like to speak a little about your life before rap.

Rated R: Yeh that’s cool. Shit was a lil crazy for me growing up in the South Bronx. I grew up like most of my peers with no father figure mama on drugs and living in the hood. At 15 I was dealing drugs droped out of school in the 7th grade nothing to brag about. I was getting arrested an being release with rnr’s till I was about 17 when I got arrested for a gun possion and arm robbery that’s when shit got serious cause I was so use to coming home from court or staying in rikers island for a week or
so. I Had a hard life but I look at it as it can only make you stronger I don’t regreat any thing I’ve done or been through cause that’s what. Makes me who I am today and you can hear that if you listen to my music

MIM: Yes you can definitely feel it in your music, so when did you decided that rap is the way to go. And how has it been going since…

Rated R: Back in 99 I was writting off and on I never really took it serious till I moved upstate and I met up with my producer J-Green. I remember the first time I went to the studio and he heard me spit and he was like yo your shit is tight you should stick to it so since that day I been putting in 150 percent. Right now things are looking good I just dropped my mix tape “NEW YORK STATE OF MIND” hosted by Superstate Jay and been grinding.

MIM: I got a chance to listen to the mixtape and its a must have, they are 23 tracks on the mixtape, what song on this mixtape do you feel that the people need to hear… a must listen…

Rated R: To me i would say the whole tape. Haha. I would go with D.R.U.G.S and the reason for that is because it has so much meaning to it for me it’s all real talk that’s what I was going through with my mother and my uncle.

MIM: Ok..from people who have listened to your mixtape and your music in general whats the response like that you are getting from them..

Rated R: Awww man it can’t get any better then what I’m getting. The emails I recive on a day to day basic is crazy. I got a lot of respones for my deeper music from people saying they can relate to it and this is coming from all races and ages.

MIM: So with all this good response you’re getting from your music is there any plans for an album in the works..

Rated R: Oh yeh I’m working on a street album right now called “Mood Swings” that I’m aiming to drop it in the summer.

MIM: Are you looking to have any features on your album or do u want to just bring it raw, and is there any major label talks going on ?

Rated R: To be honest I really don’t like to feature with to many dudes I try to keep every thing in my circle so yeh the album might have a feature from some one on my camp. As far as a deal that’s the last thing I’m worried about right now. I’m just trying to build a fan base like joe budden has which is a loyal one.

MIM: Well you can count me in as a fan i really feel your music, ok now i wanna talk about Empire State Records, whats your position there and the plans for the label..

Rated R: Thanks a lot family. Im the (ceo) of Empire state recordz. E.S.R is some thing me and J-Green started back in 2000 we have to other artist which are Lavish and M.L.B A Dj which is dj rookie a in house producer D.O.T. We on the come up making as much noize as we can. Where looking for a distribution deal that’s our main goal right now.

MIM: The beats on your mixtape are mad crazy who handled the production for your new mixtape ?

Rated R: I had production from J-Green,D.O.T which are apart of .E.S.R then you got my France boys over seas D.I..R,KEYS which are on the come up and they going to be a problem. My dude D.I.R is dropping a mix tape this spring with dudes he produce for so be on the look out for that.
